“Welcome to Nowhere” is the theme of the 2023 GMC Canyon AT4X truck reveal. The “Middle of Nowhere is the best place on earth,” according to Michael Murguia, founder of the San Francisco-based Overland Bound vehicle-based adventure travel community. Murguia reviews the AT4X Edition 1 in a newly released marketing video which takes the viewer on a journey to find Nowhere.
The AT4X has a 2.7L turbo high-output engine and is lightweight, producing an estimated 310 horsepower and 430-lb.ft of torque. Taller and wider than any other Canyon model to date, the AT4X allows nearly 11” of ground clearance atop 33” off-road tires and an ultra-wide stance for stability. The truck features multimatic DSSV shocks that are specially designed for the Canyon’s off-roading.
The high-tech cockpit ten-angle viewing of the vehicle features first-in-class front and rear underbody cameras. Driver-focused technology interfaced through an 11” driver information center with transparent screen technology that displays heads-up information. It seems to be something out of a modern Star Trek movie, which seems apropos because the GMC Canyon AT4X claims to be able to go where no truck has gone before.
An additional 11” center console screen provides access to the camera views plus the integrated entertainment center. What about mud and dirt that cover camera lenses? The integrated cleaning system keeps the 360-degree views clear. At an estimated introductory price of $63,350, the Canyon AT4X with Edition 1 Package can be reserved for a $100 reservation fee at GMC’s Future Vehicles site.
