Here are the fast-facts on the newly announced 2021 Porsche 911 Targa 4 and 4S. Both models will be packing a twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter six-cylinder engine. It’s the same bag of chips but offered in different flavors. The Targa 4’s engine delivers 380 horsepower and 331 pounds of torque. By comparison the Targa 4S cranks it up to 444 horsepower and 392 pounds of torque. More good news, Porsche will offer the 911 Targa 4S with a new seven-speed manual transmission. The 911 Targa 4 will come with an eight-speed dual-clutch PDK automatic transmission as standard.
For go-to bragging rights, the Targa 4 can hit 62 mph in 4.2 seconds, and the Targa 4S can hit it in 3.6 seconds. Top speed for the 2021 Porsche 911 Targa 4 and 4S are 179 mph and 189 mph respectively. To stop these speed machines the Targa 4 comes equipped with four-piston calipers and 330 mm disc brakes for all four wheels. The Targa 4S has a stronger bite with sports six-piston calipers up front and four-piston in the rear with larger 350 mm discs. Customers can also check off Porsche’s Ceramic Composite Brakes as an option.
Both models will have the Targa’s signature wraparound rear window that can be lowered in 19 seconds. Pricing has not been announced as of yet, but the Porsche 911 starts at $99K. Safe to say that anyone who wants a 2021 Targa 4 and 4S is going to need to fill out a six figure check.
