Mercedes-Benz has released the go-fast details for its 2021 Mercedes-AMG GT Black series. The AMG GT Black will be powered by a 4.0-liter twin-turbo flat-plane crank V8 making 720 horsepower and 590 pound-feet of torque. For 2021, this V8 was given a new camshaft, different exhaust manifold, and a dry sump lubrication system. This engine also has a new firing order, and the turbocharger compressors have larger wheels. What this means is the 2021 AMG GT Black roars like a dragon being abruptly woken up from a nap.
All this power is a reinforced Mercedes’ seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. The AMG GT Black is rear-wheel drive so all that power gets sent there pushing the car from a dead stop to 60 mph in 3.2 seconds and up to 124 mph in less than 9 seconds. Those brave enough to keep their foot down on the loud pedal will eventually see a top speed of 202 mph. Coil-over suspension, adaptive damping system, adjustable anti-roll bars, and adjustable camber help keep the AMG GT Black on the track. Styling cues were inspired by the Mercedes GT3 and GT4 race cars adopting a more aggressive front fascia with a larger singing-bass looking front grille with an adjustable splitter and carbon fiber canards. The only detail that hasn’t been released on the 2021 Mercedes-Benz AMG GT Black is the price.
