One glimpse at the 2021 Aston Martin Vantage Roadster makes it hard to contain your excitement. Maybe that’s why the drop-top Vantage was unveiled in advance of next month’s Geneva Motor Show. That venue serves as the forum for high profile releases from titans like Aston Martin. Year after year, the show unveils achievements that invariably reshape the auto industry as a whole. This year, the Vantage Roadster sets that tone by showcasing the fastest folding soft-top roof of any convertible. The fabric top can be lowered in just 6.7 seconds when the car is in a stationary position. Lowering the drop-top on the road is no problem either, as it only takes 6.8 seconds to at speeds up to 31 mph.
Aston Martin‘s Z-fold mechanism enables the Vantage Roadster to collapse its roof so quickly. While the Z-fold mechanism adds 132 lbs to the convertible version over its hardtop design, that doesn’t take a single ounce away from its on-road performance. The 2021 Vantage Roadster uses the same twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V8 engine. The drop-top version’s specs meet the same 503 hp and 505 lb-ft of torque as well. The only difference is that you can feel every bit of that power by racing up to a top speed of 190 mph with the top down.
