In the world of classic sport cars, no model embodies the rugged design and raw power of American muscle the way the Corvette Stingray has since it first came off the assembly line in 1968. With the release of the 2020 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray, Chevrolet has taken a bold step away from its iconic design by re-engineering the eighth generation of the car as a mid-engine vehicle.
Moving the 6.2-liter LT2 V8 engine from the front to the middle of the Corvette Stingray results in an enhanced performance of 495 horsepower and 470 lb-ft of torque channeled by an eight-speed, dual-clutch transmission. That powerful engine takes center stage by being placed under a glass cover, making it easy to admire atop the car’s magnetic ride control suspension.
Chevy made the most of reimagining the Corvette by incorporating an abundance of expertly engineered aerodynamic components that are as beautiful as they are mechanically advanced. Every component seemingly enhances the performance and aesthetic appeal of the sports car. Even the door handles and hatch/hood releases have been optimized to improve aerodynamic performance and present a perfectly clean appearance. With introductory models being priced at under $60,000, the 2020 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray looks to return American muscle cars to their golden age.
