An Aston Martin is one specimen of a car. Therefore an Aston Martin Zagato is one for the record books.
The 1988 Aston Martin V8 Vantage Zagato was originally unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show in 1986 to reignite the relationship between Aston Martin and the Italian styling house Zagato. The car originally hit the market in a limited run of only 50 cars. The 432 bhp version of the V8 Vantage ‘X’ pack engine powered the shorter, lighter weight, and more aerodynamic bodied chassis of the model. Its body shape, which was the result of wind tunnel testing, stunned audiences at the time. Yet what resulted from the overall impression was an agile yet powerful performance experience with driver-focused handling, controlled road holding, braking, and acceleration.
This particular car was first made to order for a German media executive to drive between Germany and the UK. It was then acquired by its second owner via Aston Martin’s London showroom as part of an international collection, for which it has been meticulously maintained by resident technicians.
This is one of the last built examples on the market and is one of only 21 original LHD cars that were built. With only 4,000 miles on the clock, it is the lowest mileage LHD car known today. Over the course of the last 30 years, the car’s ‘X’ pack engine has been elevated to legendary status and has inspired Aston Martin collections around the world.
