HBO Max has just unveiled the first official trailer for Zack Snyder’s highly anticipated “Justice League” recut. We learned last year that HBO Max was giving the director a second chance to recut the theatrical release of “Justice League” complete with new material, characters, and reshoots. The film, which is now expected to be four hours long, teams popular heroes like Batman (Ben Affleck), Superman (Henry Cavill), Aquaman (Jason Momoa), Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot), The Flash (Ezra Miller), and Cyborg (Ray Fisher) against villains Steppenwolf (Ciarán Hinds), Darkseid (Ray Porter), and The Joker (Jared Leto). It appears that Steppenwolf has been given a bit of an upgrade via CGI to look even more menacing than he did in the first version of the film, while all the other characters remain the same.
The trailer opens with an ominous voiceover from Lex Luthor saying, “The God is dead.” After having a premonition that a great diabolical power is headed to Earth with everyday people being powerless to stop it, we see Batman rally his fellow superheroes to form an alliance to help save the planet. The trailer reveals not only more details about the main six heroes, but it also shows more of the imposing Darkseid and his allies from Apokolips, as well as glimpses of Jared Leto’s Joker – just enough to whet fans’ appetites. The age of heroes will come again starting on March 18th, exclusively on HBO Max.
March is a busy month for HBO Max – check out what else is streaming: “Godzilla vs. Kong”.
