Have a thirst for the back-of-beyond? Like nabbing remote sunset shots and mountain skyline panoramas? Well, there’s a bag for that. As it happens, there are plenty of bags for that, but a new Kickstarter offering is certainly one to consider for those of us with the wanderlust bug. The WANDRD FERNWEH is an adventurer’s rucksack for the 21st century, especially appealing (though not exclusively) to photographers.
Available in slick and sexy black or Gobi Tan, the double-coated nylon FERNWEH — the word means far sickness or longing for far-off places in German — comes in a two-frame, shoulder-strap, and waistbelt sizes. Each offers the perfect fit thanks to a six-point adjustment system. What’s especially welcome is how easy the backpack’s capacious 50L innards are to get into thanks to the top loader, quick-draw side zipper, and front and back clamshell access. Shutterbugs will appreciate the WANDRD camera cubes easily integrated into the pack, which can also be worn along with the company’s freshly debuted Route pack. This other pack is specially designed for a single camera and lens on the chest or at the waist. Slip-on this baby and strike out for the far horizon, documenting your journey along the way.
