In certain metropolitan areas such as New York or Shanghai, we see black cars with executives chauffeured around the city. Most of the time, the passenger seat is pushed forward to leave maximum room for the occupants in the rear seat, which always made us wonder why even bother with having that seat? Wouldn’t it make more sense to completely remove it when it will rarely get used? Volvo seems to have asked the same question as they reveal the Volvo Lounge Console Concept at the 2015 Shanghai Auto Show. The rear seats have been ergonomically designed to minimize fatigue while the passenger seat has been completely replaced by a console that can act as a footrest and a storage box. We’re still a bit perplexed as to why it was Volvo that tackled this issue, a brand more known for family friendly and safety priced vehicles. Guess this family should limit itself to three people.
