Just when we thought the mind-boggling Rolex Daytona auctions were over after the $18M Paul Newman’s Paul Newman last year, the Philips auction house is planning to hold another auction of a unique 1970s Daytona model in Geneva on May 12th. Discovered in a famed collector’s collection, it is the only known model of a white gold Rolex Daytona reference 6265, speculated as a possible one-off made through a special order for an exclusive client.
After the Paul Newman Daytona auction, we’ve realized that the sky’s the limit, and we are curious to see how much this “unicorn” will fetch. Donated up for auction by collector John Goldberger, the watch is still in pristine condition, and all proceeds are going to charity.
