Vespa is celebrating its 80th anniversary with the Edizione Ottantesimo, a limited-edition GTS 310 created to honor the scooter’s 1946 debut while giving the brand’s most powerful modern platform a heritage-driven treatment. Revealed during Vespa’s anniversary gathering in Rome, the model connects one of Italy’s most recognizable design icons with the mechanical package at the top of Vespa’s current range.

The Edizione Ottantesimo is limited to 1,946 examples, a direct reference to the year the first Vespa entered production. Its design centers on a matte metal-inspired finish, green accents, and an anniversary “80” graphic on the side panel. The wheels carry the same green detailing and reference the look of the original Vespa 98, while the saddle uses a matching green treatment and includes a removable rear cover that gives the scooter a cleaner single-seat profile when a passenger seat is not needed.

Under the bodywork, the special edition is based on the Vespa GTS 310. The single-cylinder engine is rated at 25 horsepower, and the equipment list includes LED lighting, ABS, traction control, keyless ignition, a 5-inch color TFT display, and Vespa MIA smartphone connectivity. Buyers also receive a numbered commemorative plaque stored under the seat, a matching helmet, and a commemorative copy of the Vespa x Assouline book.

The Edizione Ottantesimo works because it does not overcomplicate the formula. Vespa’s appeal has always been rooted in proportion, portability, and visual identity, and this edition adds collectibility without moving away from the GTS’s everyday usability. Pricing and U.S. allocation details have not been fully disclosed by Vespa, but production will be capped at 1,946 units globally.
