Uphold, a Hong Kong company founded in 2020, aims to uphold the environment by eliminating disposable utensils. The US alone disposed of 40 billion single-use cutleries in 2019. Not only that, but in June 2022, California passed a new law phasing out single-use plastics, and the rest of the US will likely follow. Uphold addresses the problem with the lightest and slimmest solution among similar cutlery products. Recently, Uphold designed the new unbelievably slim travel cutlery set to help eliminate the use of single-use plastics. The company is currently running a successful Kickstarter campaign that has already surpassed its $4,999 goal, with over two weeks to go.
The utensils are TSA approved and a chic accessory featuring a timeless design that lasts for up to 3,000 uses. The TPU/TPE, aluminum alloy and titanium alloy construction make the set durable and lightweight. The cutlery set is food-safe, BPA-free, and can handle temperatures up to 110°. And, Uphold included a compact custom-fitted storage case. Additionally, the company says it uses all recyclable materials. Uphold says it innovates ergonomics and geometrics to design portable and reusable pieces. To that end, the designers create stylish, functional, and sustainable products that redefine the on-the-go lifestyle and eliminate the need for single-use utensils. The Uphold slim travel cutlery set is available for backing on Kickstarter. Delivery is on schedule to begin in March 2023.
