UNIMATIC, in conjunction with Maxfield LA, a purveyor of high-end apparel and accessories, has launched the UNIMATIC x MAXFIELD U1S-GMT-M Modello Uno, a slim dive watch that is equipped with a Swiss GMT movement. This stunning all-black timepiece is an homage of sorts to Tommy Perse, the founder of Maxfield, who introduced the concept of black to the fashion scene in LA back in the late 1960s.
With its signature UNIMATIC diving dial in matte black, the orange GMT hand provides a sharp contrast against the dial in the daytime. At night, the black phantom hands-set comes alive with an anthracite SuperLuminova coating. The solid 316 stainless steel case is finished with a DLC black brushed finish, as is the 8mm diameter crown. It sports a matte black engraved aluminum 24-hour bezel insert. Top-quality gaskets are set to provide water resistance to 300 meters.
The Unimatic x Maxfield GMT M is powered by the Swiss automatic caliber Sellita SW330-2, equipped with a GMT function, hacking seconds hand, and manual automatic winding. The watch has a power reserve of 42 hours and an accuracy of +/- 5 to +/-15 seconds per day.
The watch arrives on a matte black snakeskin back-cut strap – yet another nod to Maxfield. It also includes a spare black UNIMATIC Nato strap mounted on black DLC hardware. The Unimatic x Maxfield GMT M is part of a unique edition of only 100 pieces, which are engraved on the casebacks with the brands’ names and the individual serial number of each piece. The watch is currently available for sale exclusively at Maxfield and on UNIMATIC’s website for $1,658.
