Italian watch designer Unimatic has teamed up once again with Massena LAB, the collaboration studio founded by watch industry veteran, William Massena. The two have partnered to create a new limited-edition watch inspired by professional dive watches used by French military frogmen in the 1960s. The Unimatic x Massena Lab U1-MLM marks the second collaboration between the two designers, and just like its predecessor, the U1-ML6, this new take on Unimatic’s Modello Uno is an ode to the past. The U1-ML6 has all the usual diving necessities, including a 120-click aluminum bezel with 60-minute markings, and is water-resistant to 300 meters.
The U1-ML6 brings a vibrant blue color scheme to the minimal dive watch stylings of Unimatic. The geometric 41.5mm case is made of brushed stainless steel while the blue dial has white minute markers and hand-applied Super-LumiNova hour markers and hands. The Unimatic x Massena Lab U1-MLM comes with two straps — a French Navy style olive strap with a yellow line down its center, and a blue heavy-duty Unimatic nylon strap. Limited to only 200 pieces, the U1-MLM, like its predecessor, will likely move quickly.
