Leaving no trace can apply to the gear you use, too, especially now that sustainable materials and stylish designs aren’t mutually exclusive. Tumi’s first-ever Recycled Capsule collection is a great example of a design strategy that takes the planet and your own priorities into account.
The backpacks and bags in this collection range from roll top gear perfect for hikes to a sleek designer pouch, but they’re all designed for reparability and composed of post-industrial materials that were handpicked for durability.
For example, every bag in the Tumi Recycled Capsule collection is lined with recycled yarn that was spun from melted plastic bottles. And the ballistic nylon that looks so sleek on the outside? Collected from fabric scraps on factory floors that were spun into ultra-durable fibers. To make sure the bags last as long as possible, designers also put the straps, zippers, and padding through quality tests and added interior features that keep them versatile.
