Estonian rapper, singer, and conceptual artist, TOMM¥ €A$H, widely known for raunchy lyrical themes and creative music videos, is longing to collaborate with IKEA on the bread-loaf-inspired LOAFA Sofa, which was designed by artist Gab Bois. €A$H recently took to Instagram to declare, “So IKEA told me if we get 10,000 comments under this post they will release the “Loafa!” Let’s show them that we need this for real!!” Thus far, the post has reached over 10,900 comments, and the internet is still waiting for IKEA’s response. The LOAFA is a modular sofa design with an L-shaped construction, inviting you to lay down and melt into the soft, um, doughy cushions.
The photos posted to €A$H’s Instagram account show him sitting and lying on the LOAFA, sporting his ‘loaf-ers’ shoes, another bread-themed design he did for the Parisian fashion house, Maison Margiela. In order to draw attention to the 10K comments race, €A$H also posted a photo of an IKEA tag that lists all the specs of the LOAFA. Inspired by Italian designer Mario Bellini’s 1970 Camaleonda sofa, a revolutionary piece of modern furniture in 1970, TOMM¥ €A$H and Gab Bois may well have started something here. Time will tell if IKEA decides to run with it.
