Tom Ford and plastic are not words you would normally find together in the same sentence. However, with the high-end fashion brand set to release a new timepiece called the 002 Ocean Plastic Watch, Tom Ford is signaling his commitment to using sustainably sourced and recycled materials in his apparel. The 40mm watch boasts a black braided strap, which is engineered and crafted from 100 percent ocean plastic. The face of the watch is made using a similar process, with an ocean plastic inlay, a stainless-steel crown, and diamond-cut super luminova painted hands and numerals. The face also has an anti-reflective coating and is water-resistant up to 10 ATM.
The Tom Ford 002 watch is made from 35 bottles’ worth of recycled ocean plastic. Put another way, for every 1,000 of Tom Ford’s new watches as much as 490 pounds of plastic waste is removed from the ocean. All the timepieces come in recycled packaging as well, ensuring the sustainable vision is maintained throughout the entire purchasing experience. The 002 Ocean Plastic Watch is available now to pre-order.
