Designer Todd Snyder has long brought fashionable and functional pieces to market by collaborating with some of the best-known names in clothing. Most recently, he has worked with Victory Sportswear to create the Todd Snyder x Victory Sportswear running shoes that are simultaneously vintage and modern. Victory Sportswear is a small company based in Fitchburg, Massachusetts, and has a loyal following of runners who know just how good the company’s shoes are. Shoes are all that Victory Sportswear makes (despite the name). “We make shoes created for everyone, from walkers to marathon runners to those who have highly specific orthopedic needs,” the brand says on its website. “Our shoes are made for your feet, and last for years. We make our shoes with the double reverse flare foxing method that allows our shoes to be resoled with many years of wear.”
The shoes that Todd Snyder and Victory Sportswear have collaborated on are completely modern running sneakers on the inside. The arch support, toe space, and even laces have all of the essentials that runners have come to expect in sneakers. Aside from a high-traction Vibram sole, however, the modern design of these shoes will be lost on passersby (or bystanders as you run past). The exterior of the shoes has an all-vintage look of canvas and leather, in contrasting colors. Green, blue and gray are paired with light leather and white soles/laces to create three strikingly good-looking sets of footwear. Don’t expect many of these kicks to be made available, as they are each assembled by hand in the U.S.
