From an artist who is famous for making rugged apparel with a distinct vintage flair, it is perhaps unsurprising that he drew inspiration from his 1950s childhood love of soccer for his new collaboration with Timex. Specifically, the Timex x Nigel Cabourn ‘Referee’ Watch references the stopwatches that were worn by the referees in matches that loomed legendarily in young Nigel Cabourn’s mind.
Using the Timex MK1 as the base, the watch features the standard 40mm steel case, domed acrylic crystal, and quartz movement. Custom touches include a boosted 50 meters of water resistance, fluted crown, and a distinctive red and white dial that marks the three-quarters of an hour, or half of a soccer match. The Referee watch comes with a classic black leather strap as well as a NATO style nylon strap in the widely used traditional team colors of claret and blue.
