Dynaudio has unveiled the Confidence 20A, a pair of high-end active standmount loudspeakers that the Danish audio brand boldly claims is the biggest upgrade in active hi-fi in over a decade. Building on the success of its passive sibling, the Confidence 20, the active version integrates professional-grade amplification directly into custom aluminum stands, which also serve as heatsinks. This smart design eliminates the need for external amplifiers, offering a sleeker setup without compromising performance.

The Confidence 20A retains the 28mm Esotar 3 soft-dome tweeter and 18cm NeoTec MSP mid/bass driver but swaps the traditional crossover for DSP-based signal processing from Dynaudio’s Core reference speakers. Each driver is powered by dedicated amplifiers from Pascal, with the tweeter getting 150W and the mid/bass driver receiving a hefty 400W, ensuring distortion-free sound even at high volumes.

The speakers feature a downward-firing bass port system with an “Exponentially Shaped Dual Flared” (ESDF) port, enhancing bass clarity and reducing port noise. The result is an impressive low-frequency extension to 33Hz, potentially eliminating the need for a subwoofer. The rear panel offers a full suite of connections and settings, including sound-balance filters, room-position compensation, and even adjustable LED logo brightness.

Available in Space High Gloss and Snow High Gloss finishes, the Confidence 20A sets a new standard for active speakers. At $24,000 per pair, it’s designed for those who want top-tier sound quality and cutting-edge technology in their listening experience.
