Just a week ago, James Gunn shared the first, over-the-top ‘Suicide Squad’ trailer which introduced the government-controlled task force made up of ragtag, expendable super-villains. And now, (surprise!), we get a second peek into the highly anticipated film with ‘The Suicide Squad Rebellion Trailer’. The film, set to release this August, features an all-star cast that includes the likes of Margot Robbie, Idris Elba, John Cena, Joel Kinnaman, Jai Courtney, Peter Capaldi, and more. This latest trailer delivers a more ominous tone than the first. We hear the voiceover of Peter Capaldi’s Thinker as he appears to taunt the Squad about their plight as pawns of Amanda Waller. He talks about how they’re all punchlines and all it would take is “one blessed act of rebellion” to make them legends again. Clearly, given how he seems to be the reluctant cornerstone in their plan, he’s trying to get under their skin.
The new trailer also features several thought-provoking scenes including Harley apparently creating an eruption of flowers when she kills people, Polka-Dot Man firing polka dots at people (it’s unclear what the result of that will be), Ratcatcher II summoning rats, and several shots of a shirtless Peacemaker explaining how many people he’d kill for peace. And how about King Shark? Well, we can’t wait to see him in action!
