Paulin Watches, the Glasgow-based brand founded in 2013 and now part of anOrdain, has always thrived on bold typography and daring design. With the debut of the Paulin Mara, the company steps into the professional watch space with a dive watch that manages to balance serious technical capability with the brand’s unmistakable visual flair. Named after the Scots Gaelic word for “of the sea,” the Mara reimagines the diver’s watch with both clarity and creativity.
The 39.7mm case, a robust evolution of Paulin’s Modul design, features sharp facets and alternating brushed and polished finishes. Its domed sapphire unidirectional bezel, available in blue or grey, comes printed with Super-LumiNova on the underside for legibility—even with gloves. Water resistance reaches a professional-grade 300m, backed by a screw-down crown and rugged construction. On the dial, offered in deep black or vivid blue, bold markers and numerals at 6 and 12 bring structure, while the playful lollipop seconds hand adds Paulin’s graphic edge.
Inside, the La Joux-Perret G101 automatic movement ensures reliability with a 68-hour power reserve and a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour. Each Mara includes two straps: a custom HNBR rubber option and a Tide fabric strap crafted from recycled fishing nets and lined with Alcantara, hand-stitched in Glasgow for sustainable craftsmanship.
As Paulin’s first foray into the world of professional dive watches, the Mara proves that function and creativity can coexist seamlessly. Available mid-September, it sets a new bar for design-led tool watches.
