Netflix has a new mega-budget summer film coming out called The Gray Man, and the official trailer has just dropped. Based on author Mark Greaney’s Gray Man novels, the film stars Ryan Gosling as CIA mercenary Court Gentry, who goes by Sierra Six. Gentry was once an agency-sanctioned merchant of death, taken from a federal penitentiary and recruited by his handler Donald Fitzroy, played by Billy Bob Thornton. In the film, Six becomes a target, hunted across the globe by Lloyd Hansen (Chris Evans), a former cohort at the CIA, who will stop at nothing to take him out.
The blockbuster film is directed by Avengers: Endgame duo Anthony and Joe Russo. The project reportedly is the most expensive film Netflix has ever produced, with a budget of around $200 million. It is expected that The Gray Man will launch a new franchise revolving around Gosling’s character, so we anticipate one or more sequels to follow. The film also stars Ana de Armas as Agent Dani Miranda and Regé-Jean Page, Jessica Henwick, Dhanush, Wagner Moura, and Alfre Woodard. The Gray Man will screen in select theaters starting July 15th and drop on Netflix on July 22nd.
