Introducing Robert Pattison As The New Caped Crusader In ‘The Batman’ Official Trailer

The upcoming film will focus on a younger Bruce Wayne, Batman’s alter ego.

DC’s Fandome 2021 took place this past weekend and with it the long-awaited official trailer for The Batman was released, and fans were not disappointed. The trailer gives us our first glimpse of not only Robert Pattison taking on the mantle of the Caped Crusader, but also Paul Dano as Edward Nashton, a.k.a. The Riddler, Zoe Kravitz as Catwoman, and Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth, Bruce Wayne’s loyal butler.

This latest iteration in the Batman franchise is said to exist separately from all existing live-action DC movies. The Batman is set during the hero’s second year of fighting crime in Gotham City and will be the first film to really explore the “world’s greatest detective” aspect of the legendary character. As the new trailer shows, the plot of the film appears to revolve around Batman’s relationship with The Riddler, since his presence in the trailer suggests that he will play a significant part in the film. The cast of The Batman also includes Jeffrey Wright as Police Commissioner and Batman ally, James Gordon, John Turturro as mob boss, Carmine Falcone, and an unrecognizable Colin Farrell as The Penguin. Filmmaker Matt Reeves, best known for Cloverfield, the vampire drama, Let Me In, and the last two Planet of the Apes movies, has directed The Batman, set to open in theaters on March 4, 2022.
