Ressence c continues to push its minimalist design language into new territory with the debut of the Type 9 ‘Scattering Sun’, a collaboration with Mark Cho of The Armoury. Limited in production and priced at $19,000, this latest iteration elevates the brand’s smallest watch into one of its most refined expressions yet.

The Scattering Sun builds on the 39mm titanium Ressence Type 9 platform first introduced in 2023, now distinguished by a polished, fluted bezel and a sandblasted salmon dial. The combination represents a dramatic departure from the flat, brushed bezel and restrained aqua-blue or gray dials of the original release, introducing a distinctly dressy character that aligns with The Armoury’s sartorial sensibilities.

At just 11mm thick with a double-domed sapphire crystal, the case remains elegantly slim, while luminous markers keep the watch legible in low light. The dial, free of numerals, relies on elongated markers radiating like sun rays for a clean, organic aesthetic. A chocolate-brown suede strap underscores the warmth of the design, perfectly complementing the salmon tone of the dial.
Inside, the Type 9 retains Ressence’s ROCS module, powered by the ETA-based caliber 2892-2 with automatic winding, a 36-hour power reserve, and no traditional crown. Time-setting and winding are handled via the case back, a hallmark of Ressence’s unconventional engineering.
With the Scattering Sun, Ressence and The Armoury deliver a watch that merges horological innovation with timeless tailoring. It’s a striking reminder that even in minimalism, detail makes all the difference.
