The Moment SuperCage USB-C Hub, currently undergoing a successful Kickstarter campaign, looks set to change the game for smartphone filmmakers looking to maximize their shot selection.
The Moment SuperCage USB-C Hub’s simple design presents a slim and lightweight cage into which a smartphone can be easily attached. However, this simplicity is deceptive since it comes with many additional accessories that transform the device into a pro-level rig that can be easily stowed in a rucksack.
With its integrated USB-C Hub for expanded connectivity, the SuperCage USB-C Hub is compatible with various accessories to help improve the filmmaking production workflow. There’s a cheese plate accessory mount, a grip fitted with a wireless shutter release, and an optional microphone for enhanced audio recordings.
The Moment SuperCage USB-C Hub can be used as an open rail system. The clamp also allows for multi-directional shooting and tricky shots. It’s fully compatible with various camera accessories, such as tripods, with dozens of thread mounting points and four cold-shoe mounts.
Everything is channeled through the cage’s base, with custom connections for pro-level accessories and codecs, including Apple ProRes LOG for color-graded filmmaking. Power ports, SSD and SD cards, and HDMI out help ensure the Moment SuperCage USB-C Hub fulfills the requirements of the most demanding video projects.
