A four-year absence has done little to quiet demand for Spyderco’s angular ParaMilitary 2. The revived ParaMilitary 2 Tanto returns as a Blade HQ exclusive, trading the model’s usual leaf profile for a harder-working compound grind.

The 3.44-inch blade is CPM-M4, a high-toughness tool steel prized for edge stability and wear resistance. Hollow-ground primary and reinforced secondary sections divide slicing and piercing duties, while a black DLC finish tempers the steel’s modest corrosion resistance. Peel-ply black G10 scales sit over stainless-steel liners, preserving the traction and straightforward construction that made the platform a benchmark.

Mechanically, the knife remains pure Spyderco: a round thumb hole, washer pivot, and Compression Lock provide familiar one-handed control. The four-position clip accommodates right- or left-handed, tip-up or tip-down carry. Overall length is 8.25 inches and weight is 4.2 ounces—substantial enough for the tanto geometry without becoming a pocket pry bar. Compared with the limited, material-rich pieces in the WESN Ridgeback Collection, this is less precious and more purposefully replaceable.
Blade HQ lists the black CPM-M4 version at $235.95, against a $295 MSRP. It is scheduled to release July 22, with availability exclusive to the retailer.
