When racing aficionados hear the word “McLaren,” they think of a tradition of Grand Prix automobiles that dates back half a century. Known as much for style as they are for performance, McLaren racecars are easily identifiable for its liberal use of striking papaya orange auto body finishes.
McLaren’s newest creation brings its dedication to speed and maneuverability (as well as its aforementioned love for the color orange) to the world of racing bicycles. Partnering with the high-end bicycle manufacturer Specialized, the company is proud to release the S-Works Roubaix McLaren Dura-Ace Di2. In addition to its distinctive orange paint job and bespoke leather bar tape with orange stitching, the bicycle has unique hubs that were inspired by the wheels of classic McLaren racing cars.
The bike’s Rider-First Engineered, FACT 11r carbon fiber frame is incredibly light and unrivaled in terms of stiffness, strength, and reactivity. It is also outfitted with a Future Shock suspension system. Utilizing a piston in the head tube with 20mm of travel, this Future Shock technology is the result of an R&D partnership between Specialized and McLaren Applied Technologies.
The other high-end features of this incredible bike are too many to list. Highlights, however, include Shimano’s benchmark Dura-Ace 9150 Di2 groupset, S-Works carbon bits, and hand-built Roval CLX 32 Disc wheels with custom hubs.
