Leave it to the king of Crocodile Rock to drive this bold Aston Martin. Sir Elton John’s 1997 Aston Martin V8 Vantage V550 is now on the auction block waiting for the highest bidder.

This particular model features a rare six-speed manual gearbox mated to a 6.3-litre V8. Although at first glance its styling may seem similar to a Virage from the same era, closer inspection reveals a deeper front spoiler, a low stance, and flared wheel arches. Like the pop crooner, the V8 Vantage V550 has an enormous presence and looks especially bold when parked.

As one of the last coach-built Aston Martins, this vehicle was hand built at the factory in Newport Pagnell and equipped with the powerful engine and Eaton supercharger. At the time, the car featured the most powerful production engine in the world with an incredible 550 bhp output and 550 ft/lbs of torque. The top speed of the V550 hovered at 191 mph with a 0 to 60 mph of only 4.6 seconds, which is quite an accomplishment for such a substantial vehicle.

The interior features a sumptuous black leather interior and glossy walnut accents. It’s also equipped with a very period Motorola mobile phone and a premium audio system. Reportedly one of only 240 of the V550 Vantages, this highly collectible will hit the auction block on February 24th, with an estimated price exceeding £190,000.
