Shake Shack bills itself as “modern day version of a roadside burger stand,” and is known for its 100% all-natural Angus beef burgers, flat-top beef dogs, crispy crinkle cut fries, and fresh-made frozen custard. The New York City-based restaurant chain has hundreds of locations worldwide, including South Korea. Enter the Shake Shack Gochujang Chicken Shack. Known for touting its international locations, Shake Shack Culinary Director, Mark Rosati, curated mouth-watering new menu items exclusively for the South Korean market that reflect traditional Korean flavors.
The new menu is centered around Gochujang, a spicy red chili paste made with glutinous rice, fermented soybeans, and meju powder. The limited-time menu offers The Gochujang Chicken Shack, a Korean fried chicken-inspired burger. Topped with Emmental cheese, kimchi-slaw and sweet-and-spicy gochujang mayonnaise, this burger is sure to offer something that’s unexpected from the fast food chain. Alongside the burger, consumers can order a side of Gochujang Fries, which are Shake Shack’s traditional fries topped with chili paste, chili powder, gochujang mayo, bacon, and chives.
All that’s left to say is: Will these offerings be coming to the US menu soon? Fingers crossed.
