Opening the Roger Dubuis website is a little like stumbling into a rave – but then again, nobody in the market for a Roger Dubuis is seeking subtlety. The masters of haute horlogerie have an uncanny ability to crank the dial to 13 while making it feel like a soft nine.
The particular magic on display for the Excalibur Blacklight Monobalancier capsule collection is the watches’ dual-natured dials. Dubuis’ artisans assembled four examples that feature striking colors by day and UV-luminescent micro-beams that give the piece an undeniable vaporwave aesthetic in the proper lighting.
Dubuis offers four flavors of Excalibur Blacklight Monobalancier:
- RDDBEX1014: Acidulous yellow and vibrant orange colorways; 18K white gold case; yellow rubber strap with calf inlay; 18K white gold clasp.
- RDDBEX1037: Ice blue and tangerine orange colorways; 18K EON gold case; blue rubber strap with calf inlay; 18K pink gold clasp.
- RDDBEX1038: Abyss blue and mint green colorways; 18K white gold case; blue rubber strap with calf inlay; 18K white gold clasp.
- RDDBEX1039: Empire green and peony pink colorways; 18K EON gold case; green rubber strap with calf inlay; 18K pink gold clasp.
Each 42mm piece features 60 diamonds around the bezel and one at the dial’s center. The examples offer 5 BAR water resistance in case poolside shenanigans take a turn. Dubuis’ in-house RD720SQ caliber powers the automatic, self-winding movement, pulling juice from the 72-hour power reserve when needed.
