In an effort to blend the comfort of a luxury automobile with the speed and excitement of a sports car, Bentley unveiled its first Continental GT in 2003. Designed by Raul Pires and Dirk van Braeckel, this vehicle kicked off 8 years of widespread success for the first generation of high-performance Continental GT models. The first generation Bentley Continental GT was powered by a 6.0 L W12 twin-turbo engine and a 6-speed tiptronic automatic transmission.
Production on the second generation Bentley Continental GT began in 2011, giving customers the option of a 4.0 L V8 twin-turbo engine and switching over to an 8-speed automatic transmission system. Bentley ceased production on this generation of cars in 2017.
Now, Bentley is proud to announce the third generation of this iconic automobile. The 2019 Bentley Continental GT builds on classic grand tourer proportions with a new chassis that is incredibly long, low, wide and sleek. Quite simply, the road presence of this new model would be unrivaled in any age.
The powertrain on the 2019 Bentley Continental GT exclusively returns to the 6.0 L W12 twin-turbo engine but incorporates a brand new 8-speed dual-clutch transmission. The 2019 Continental GT also takes Bentley into the future with features such as crystal-effect LED headlamps, optional 22-inch forged alloy wheels with twisting 3D reflective surfaces, and 12-way adjustable front seats with two memory settings.
