Mid-century style is thriving, and Swiss watchmaker Rado knows it. The new Captain Cook Over-Pole Limited Edition is a tribute to watches produced in the 1950s and 60s, also known as the Jet Age. The goal was to recreate a mid-century favorite, and Rado succeeded. The style is classic, yet the precision and stability are straight out of the 21st century. The Captain Cook Over-Pole Limited Edition is a stainless steel world timer that is manually wound. Reminiscent of the 1960s, the Captain Cook Over-Pole features a dial that fades from silver in the center to black around the edges. The brown leather strap adds to the popular mid-century look. Also available is a stainless-steel rice grain bracelet with a stainless-steel triple-fold clasp.
However, the Rado Captain Cook Over-Pole is more than its good looks. The date is visible at a glance, sitting in red at 3 o’clock. A rotating concave ceramic bezel sits atop its 37mm stainless steel case, with cities that represent each of the 24 time zones laser-engraved onto its surface. The bezel can be adjusted to match up with your current time zone, showing other time zones of the world at a quick glance with the aid of the 24-hour markings along the minute track. The watch is powered by the state-of-the-art caliber R862 movement with a Nivachron hairspring for resistance to magnetic fields. The movement is also decorated with Geneva striping and blued screws and is visible through a sapphire caseback. Only 1,962 examples of the Rado Captain Cook Over-Pole Limited Edition will be available.
