It feels a little odd to refer to the 2018 Sports Turismo as an upgrade. After all, it has a Porsche bloodline and is the second-generation member of the Panamera line, so our expectations are already incredibly high. But the Porsche Panamera Sports Turismo delivers.

The first cosmetic difference you’ll see between this sleek model and the standard Panamera is the B-Pillar back and that the profile isn’t quite so slung back. That allows greater headroom in the backseat, which now holds three. It’s a bit roomier for luggage, too, with 520 liters of space. Fold the rear seats down and that space potential expands dramatically to 1,390 liters.

There’s also an active rear spoiler that self-adjusts to three settings depending on car speed and sunroof use. Maybe it’s only academic – and we’re certainly suggesting no bad ideas here – but upon reaching a cruising speed of 106 mph, the spoiler drops to a streamlined 1 degree angle.

Here’s what’s under you: as much as 542 horsepowers pulled from the twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V8 engine of the Panamera Turbo Sports Turismo model. In all, the line consists of five variants, including a diesel and hybrid model with V6 engines.

You can order your Porsche Panamera Sports Turismo now, but you’ll have to wait until the end of 2017 to take delivery.

Sticker price? You have to ask?

Slightly less than a hundred grand will put you behind the wheel of the starter model. The Turbo goes for around $167,000. That doesn’t include the $1,050 delivery charge from Germany, so start saving.
