While Porsche is a company that is best known for producing luxury supercars, the Porsche Design branch of the company has brought to market a wide range of other luxury products as well – including fine watches. Now, Porsche Design is raising the standard for luxury watches yet again with the release of the Porsche Design Chronograph 1 1972 Limited Edition.
Like all Porsche Design products, the Chronograph 1 1972 is designed to capture the spirit of Porsche sports cars in every detail of its design. First designed in 1972 by legendary Porsche Design founder Ferdinand Alexander Porsche and reissued for a limited release in 2022, the Chronograph 1 1972 Limited Edition features an exceptional COSC-certified Porsche Design caliber WERK 01.140 automatic movement that is a product of Porsche’s long history of precision craftsmanship. Other noteworthy features and specs of this watch include its 40.8mm case diameter, its 48-hour power reserve, and the fact that it is water-resistant down to 10 bar (roughly 335 feet). As for the watch’s design, the Chronograph 1 1972 features a black titanium band and clasp complete with limited-edition engraving and a chronograph face that is black with white accents and a bright red second hand.
Reissued in a limited edition batch as a celebration of Porsche Design’s 50-year brand anniversary, only 500 of the Porsche Design Chronograph 1 1972 Limited Edition watches have been produced. These watches will only be on sale through March 2022, making now the time to act for anyone who wants to own a watch that is both a piece of Porsche history and an exceptionally-crafted luxury timepiece.
