Panasonic’s popular LUMIX S Series is set to get a new addition with the recent announcement of the Panasonic LUMIX S1RII Full-Frame Mirrorless Camera. Known for its impressive functionality and vivid photos and videos, the latest release looks set to ramp up quality with the newly developed 44.3MP BSI CMOS sensor.

The new sensor works with the brand’s unique L2 Technology, and the Panasonic LUMIX S1RII Full-Frame Mirrorless Camera incorporates Panasonic’s cutting-edge natural color science for outstanding results. A high-resolution mode shoots at 177MP to bring out all the details of a subject, and the LUMIX S1RII is also the first in the range to bring 8K video recording to consumers.

The upgrades to video performance are notable improvements over previous models, with 14 stops of dynamic range for a comprehensive range of shooting scenarios. The brand’s Open Gate feature has also been enhanced to 6.4K, and Panasonic promises firmware updates to take this up to 8.1K / 7.2K.

Additional improvements can be found in the LUMIX S1RII Full-Frame Mirrorless Camera’s focusing systems. Updated real-time recognition through Phase Hybrid AF, complemented with new AI tracking features, enhances the impressive 40fps shooting, making wildlife and sports photography a breeze.

Image stabilization has also been upgraded to 8.0-stop shutter speed compensation to assist with telephoto photography and improve handheld shooting on wide-angle lenses. With full compatibility with the brand’s LUMIX Lab application, the LUMIX S1RII Full-Frame Mirrorless Camera provides all the features for truly creative photography.

The Panasonic LUMIX S1RII Full-Frame Mirrorless Camera will retail for $3,300 and be available in late March.
