Nikon has unveiled the NIKKOR Z 24-70mm f/2.8 S II, the second generation of its flagship standard zoom lens, delivering groundbreaking performance in a lighter, faster package. Designed for full-frame/FX format mirrorless cameras, this professional-grade lens is set to become the new benchmark for both photographers and videographers who demand uncompromising versatility.

Weighing just 675 grams, the NIKKOR Z 24-70mm f/2.8 S II is now the lightest in its class, making it a travel-friendly option for long days of handheld shooting. The new internal zoom mechanism ensures superior stability and dust- and drip-resistant protection, while maintaining balance for video setups with gimbals or rigs. Nikon also equipped the lens with its innovative Silky Swift VCM autofocus motors, delivering the fastest AF performance in Nikon history—roughly five times faster than the previous generation—with 60% better tracking when zooming.

The lens’s optical design features a newly developed 11-blade diaphragm for silky, circular bokeh and enhanced low-light performance. Nikon’s Meso Amorphous Coat and ARNEO Coat minimize flare and ghosting, ensuring crisp, high-contrast results even in challenging lighting. Optimized for video, the lens suppresses focus breathing and includes tactile customization features like a switchable control ring click.

From fast-paced sports and events to cinematic video production, the NIKKOR Z 24-70mm f/2.8 S II offers the precision, speed, and durability required by today’s professionals. Available now to preorder with availability beginning in mid-September, the lens retails for $2,800.
