Nike just unveiled the new Nike Pegasus Turbo Next Nature, the company’s answer to runners who want a responsibly made, versatile trainer with more foam cushioning. Each Pegasus Turbo Next Nature is 50% recycled material at a minimum. Nike says they use 100% recycled flyknit yarns to create a more secure fitting upper. The innovative flyknit yarn is 70% recycled polyester and 30% excess yarn, creating a strong, lightweight material. Plus, the midsole is a minimum of 55% recycled foam. Nike says the Pegasus Turbo Next Nature benefits from the insights they gained from their previous sustainably-minded shoes.

Pegasus Turbo Next Nature’s silhouette is a throwback to the iconic 2019 Pegasus Turbo Shield but uses recycled materials in the Swoosh’s embroidery, the lining, the midfoot, and the laces. In 2018, Nike developed the ZoomX foam to reduce carbon fiber. Then, in 2021, the company introduced the Air Zoom AlphaFly Next Nature racing shoe, made with recycled materials. After that, they began experimenting with recycled ZoomX foam and flyknit yarn, establishing a new benchmark— the Nike Pegasus Turbo Next Nature. It is the company’s first performance shoe made with a 50% minimum of recycled materials by weight.
