MING is back with the highly anticipated second generation of their moonphase timepiece, the 37.05 Series 2. This new release presents a dynamic interpretation of the night sky, captivating watch enthusiasts with its mesmerizing design. The most noticeable change in the Series 2 is the anthracite dial featuring sunray brushing and star-shaped holes. These holes serve as luminous stars that appear and disappear, mimicking the changing phases of the moon. The large rotating moon disk serves a dual purpose, acting as both the moon and a dynamic stellar backdrop.
Building upon the lunar theme, the upper dial retains its sapphire composition, adorned with luminous HyCeram stars on both the upper and lower surfaces. This addition adds visual depth to the watch and creates a unified warm hue, perfectly complementing the moon and date font accents.
Maintaining the spirit of traditional complications, the 37.05 Series 2 remains a hand-wound piece, allowing owners to engage more intimately with their timepiece. Powering the watch is the Sellita SW288-1 movement, skillfully reworked and finished in the recognizable style found in MING’s previous models.
With its complex case design featuring multiple compound curves and alternating polished-brushed finishes, the 37.05 Series 2 boasts a remarkable presence on the wrist. Despite its larger appearance, the watch remains comfortable and wearable, maintaining a 38mm maximum diameter and 20mm lug width.
MING continues its collaborations with Manufacture Schwarz-Etienne, Jean Rousseau Paris, and Studio Koji Sato for construction, leather straps, and pouches respectively, ensuring exceptional craftsmanship and attention to detail. Limited to 500 watches, the MING 37.05 Series 2 is priced at $5,530. Orders will open on July 11, 2023, with a 50% deposit due at the time of order and the balance payable upon delivery, which is expected to commence in Q4 2023.
