Independent watchmaker MING has once again delivered a masterclass in minimalist complexity with the new 29.01 Midnight Worldtimer. Limited to just 25 pieces and priced at $26,000, this stealthy iteration of its acclaimed 29.01 Worldtimer blends the brand’s signature design language with serious technical firepower—and a striking new dark aesthetic to match.

Housed in a 40mm Grade 5 titanium case with a black DLC coating, the 29.01 Midnight stands out for what it lacks: a bezel. Instead, a deep box sapphire crystal serves double duty as the crystal and bezel, seamlessly fused into the case for a clean, modern finish. MING’s signature “flying blade” lugs interlock with the caseback for a perfectly flush fit, with contrasting polished and blasted surfaces that create visual movement in every light.

The dial is a layered sapphire construction showcasing a rotating 24-hour disc beneath a fixed city ring, all illuminated by HyCeram-infused Super-LumiNova X1. The orange numerals and glowing accents add just the right amount of drama to its otherwise monochrome design. Even the hands are made of sapphire and lume-filled, delivering clarity without clutter.

Powering it all is the Schwarz-Etienne for MING Cal. ASE 222 automatic movement with a tungsten micro-rotor, rose gold-coated bridges, and a skeletonized mainspring barrel offering 86 hours of power reserve. Add in a custom FKM rubber strap with quick-release bars and a micro-adjusting “flying blade” buckle, and you’ve got a travel-ready timepiece that’s as refined as it is rare.
