Blue meters now move to streams as readily as records. The McIntosh CS7500 combines a two-channel preamplifier and network streamer, giving a system one control center without forcing its owner into an all-in-one amplifier.

The input count makes that distinction useful. Six analog connections include balanced, unbalanced, and configurable moving-magnet or moving-coil phono inputs. Seven digital inputs cover USB, coaxial, optical, MCT, and HDMI ARC, with Dolby and DTS television audio folded down for two-channel playback. Its Quad Balanced eight-channel 32-bit DAC handles PCM up to 384 kHz and native DSD over USB.

Streaming spans Qobuz Connect, Spotify Connect, TIDAL Connect, AirPlay, Google Cast, Bluetooth with aptX HD and Adaptive, and Roon. Variable balanced and unbalanced outputs support different power-amplifier arrangements, while a second output set can feed one or two subwoofers. That modularity makes the CS7500 a more flexible hi-fi centerpiece than a closed streaming amplifier.
The polished stainless lower chassis, black titanium-finished upper section, glass face, machined end caps, and blue meters keep the component recognizably McIntosh. McIntosh prices the CS7500 at $12,500. It became available August 28 through authorized U.S. dealers.
