Marantz continues to push the bounds of what’s possible for home theater setups with the latest expansion to its CINEMA series: the AV 10 Preamplifier/Processor and AMP 10 amplifier, which pumps 200W into each of its 16 channels.
The AV 10 features discrete HDAM and current feedback with 15.4 channels of output in Dolby Atmos, DTS:X, Auro 3D, and IMAX Enhanced formats. Cutting-edge features like Audyssey MultEQ XT32 turn even the most challenging acoustic spaces into ideal listening environments. The unit boasts massive connectivity with seven 8K HDMI ports alongside digital, analog, and phono inputs.
The AV 10 also features a newly-designed HD screen with an intuitive setup, while an available “Dirac Live” upgrade brings the venerable sound research company right into the living room to remotely calibrate speakers through a PC or mobile device for best-in-class sound quality. It’s the ultimate finishing touch for the ultimate home theater setup.
Of course, none of the above matters if there’s no audio oomph. Enter the AMP 10, built on Marantz’s HDAM-SA2 tech and featuring a newly-developed Class D amplification. The AMP 10 puts out 200W per 8-ohm channel and 400W per 4-ohm channel, offering plenty of power for all audio ranges.
The AV 10 and AMP 10 are available separately for $7,000 apiece for those who wish to mix and match components, but for the ideal home theater experience, we’d advise listeners to avoid franken-setups. Besides, the impeccable design of these home theater costars practically demands they share top billing.
