Maharishi, the menswear brand founded in 1994, has announced the upcoming release of the Maharishi Royal Marine 1950 Watch, which reflects utilitarian and military-inspired elements. Created as a limited edition release with timepiece experts, Watch Experimental Unit, the Royal Marine 1950 watch draws inspiration from the famed Rolex GMT-Master worn by Marlon Brando during the filming of Apocalypse Now. When Brando was asked to remove the watch for filming, he instead chose to remove the distinctive red and blue bezel to hide the watch’s true origins so he could continue wearing the watch during filming.

In a nod to Brando’s bezel-less timepiece, the Watch Experiment Unit and Maharishi created a correctly proportioned 36.5mm stainless steel case sans bezel with an aged dial. There is an ‘M.Rishi’ signature engraving on the case back. The Royal Marine 1950 Watch uses an automatic Seiko NH35 movement and is finished with a date window and powered by a Seiko NH35 automatic movement with a water resistance rating of 10 ATM. It arrives with slick gift packaging featuring both black and green nylon straps for switching up the look with ease. The Royal Marine 1950 Watch is available for preorder and will ship sometime in April.
