A Porsche signifies a special kind of sporty luxury, the epitome of speed and efficient German design. The guttural roar of the air cooled internal combustion system of a Porsche Luftgekült is like none other.
A new book by Patrick Long and Howie Idelson embraces the spirit of the motor with a celebration of Luftgekült. The stunning 260-page book traces the beginning of the original, homegrown Luftgekült gathering at Deus Ex Machina in Venice, California. The annual gathering was designed to showcase some of the best air-cooled cars produced throughout the decades. It quickly became a must-do activity for Porschephiles.
Now the Deus team has condensed the sight of these beautiful machines down into a commemorative book for anyone to enjoy year round without having to hop a plane to Los Angeles. The hefty, three-kilogram presentation book chronicles the Luft legacy and showcases it through exceptional editorial photography and design work from Carby Tuckwell with glossy page after glossy page of Porsche related reverence. Jeff Zwart, Bruce Meyer, Rod Emory, Rob Dickinson and others are also featured.
The books are produced as part of a limited print run with a choice of either slate gray or ruby stone dust jackets. Each tome is presented in a special screen printed, hard slipcase. The dust jacket can be unfolded into a poster-size artwork of the Luft-auto. The Luftgekült book also comes shipped in its own bespoke box to further enhance its breathtaking presentation.
