With the recent implosion of FTX and the potential for ongoing contamination throughout the crypto space, hodlers are hustling to get their coins and tokens off exchanges and safely stowed in cold storage. Ledger is (rightfully) one of the most trusted names in offline crypto storage, but their Nano series didn’t offer the most accessible interface for novice users.
The forthcoming Ledger Stax hardware wallet aims to change all that. Ledger was serious enough about the move to engage iPod designer Tony Fadell for the Stax. His influence shows: the Stax is easily the sleekest offering in Ledger’s lineup and one of the best-looking crypto hardware wallets around.
The Stax has nearly the same dimensions as an iPhone Pro Max except a little wider. It supports wireless Qi charging, but because its display uses the same e-ink technology as the Kindle, a single charge can last for months. Bluetooth makes connecting with the Ledger Live smartphone app a breeze.
Hardcore hodlers may find fault with Ledger Live’s limited capability for staking, and some may balk at spending $279 on the Stax instead of growing their stacks. However, for most users, the Stax is a worthy investment that will help shield their satoshis from at least some of crypto’s inherent uncertainty.
