Looking to get attention from those walking and driving by for their new venture, the KIDO Sushi Bar looked to DA Architects to design the interior of the restaurant, located in the dormitory district of St. Petersburg, Russia.
The existing structure was a small and plain space that needed to be redesigned to give the restaurant a modern look that reserved simplicity yet provided a unique, memorable, and attention-getting design.
To do this, DA Architects chose to an eye-catching creation that could easily be seen through the buildings expansive panoramic windows. The result was an impressive wooden wave-like design utilizing more than 400 volumetric triangles. These wooden pieces were used in the main hall of the restaurant along the wall and ceiling, giving an ultra-modern feel that plays well with the Asian theme of the business and is very reminiscent of classic Asian design inspired by older wooden buildings, Japanese geometric ornaments, and origami creations.
Built in 2016, the restaurant is definitely getting the attention it deserves. The amazing wooden wave interior feature is spotlighted by the minimalist tones of the gray walls and floors, chosen to highlight the unique design. The addition of black furniture gives a quiet touch of understated elegance, creating a magnificent ambiance.
There is also a second hall of the restaurant that was included in DA Architects design. Just as elegant and modern, but offering a completely different mood setting, this area includes a wooden structure design that resembles a bamboo grove. Backlit in a soothing purple glow, this room in the posh restaurant adds a feel of intimacy, is very calming, and offers diners a relaxing and peaceful ambiance that is sure to attract customers.
