Luka Dončić revealed his debut signature shoe, The Jordan Brand Luka 1, as the Mavs recently took on the Utah Jazz. This innovative shoe combines a new IsoPlate foot frame system and a new performance foam dubbed Formula 23 in the midsole. Nike says it built the Luka 1 to complement Dončić’s deceptive, off-speed play. The brand designed the IsoPlate foot frame to wrap up the lateral forefoot, helping secure the player’s foot in place from front to back. Plus, Breathable Flightwire cables provide additional support. The one-piece upper boasts a haptic 3D print that changes color depending on where the light hits the shoe. What’s more, the Formula 23 foam provides a lightweight side-to-side movement.
This lightweight and bouncy injected foam is one of the most sustainable performance foams created by a Nike brand. And Nike added color detail to the shoe’s heels, highlighting the Formula 23 foam’s entire length. The Luka 1 IsoPlate foot frame and Formula 23 foam continue the Jordan Brand legacy of performance systems, joining icons such as the Flight Plate in the Air Jordan XXVIII and the Eclipse Plate in the Air Jordan XXXIV.
