Is there anyone that doesn’t love the John Wick series? Besides the Matrix, John Wick is Keanu Reeve’s most iconic role. Unlike the Matrix, John Wick films only get better with each successive movie, an incredible feat for any franchise. The minute the John Wick: Chapter 4 Official Trailer dropped, a collective gasp went out across the world as so many of us watched it multiple times–on the big monitor. It does not disappoint! We, John Wick fans, have waited for this since the spring 2019 release of John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum. Initially slated for a May 2021 release, COVID-19 once again disrupted everything.
Set in a majestic cathedral, a typical John Wick dialogue with someone that wants to kill him begins the trailer before a segway into a remixed version of Terry Jacks’ cover of Season in the Sun. The eerie remix sets a stage that only ramps up from there. Driving and shooting a muscle car with no door by the Arc de Triumph, fighting in a deluge of water in a club, sword fighting in front of a Japanese temple, and a horse chase in a desert–sign us up!
Yes, our favorite characters are all back for Chapter 4, including Ian McShane as Winston, the head of the Continental, Lawrence Fishburn as the Bowery King, and Lance Reddick as Charon, the front desk manager at the Continental. Add in a cast that includes Bill Skarsgård and it looks like the trend is only getting better with each successive installment.
The John Wick: Chapter 4 Official Trailer has Wick traveling to more destinations than in previous installments, including New York, Paris, Berlin, and Osaka, to directly take on the notorious High Table. John Wick wants out of the game almost as badly as we’ve wanted Chapter 4. What does Winston mean by “Your family does.” when John Wick says he doesn’t sit at the high table? We will find out on March 24th, 2023.
