If we had to pick the greatest city in the world, nine out of ten times the answer will most likely be New York City. From the intensely passionate people that reside in the city to the architecture, culture, and food that’s second to none, it may not be the most beautiful city in the world but it’s the most exciting city in our book. Having said that, it’s a city with its own unique quirks and annoyances, the biggest of which is the aging infrastructure that’s quickly falling behind global standards when compared to most metropolitan cities across the globe.
The most evident is possibly the terminals at John F. Kennedy Airport, a gateway to the rest of the world for New Yorkers, as well as the very first impression of the Big Apple to people visiting this great city. It’s a shame that a great city like New York is crippled with aging infrastructure, which is why Governor Cuomo has presented his plans to revamp the airport to meet the needs of the millions of New Yorkers and visitors.
The transformation project is estimated to cost a whopping $10 billion(!), greatly surpassing La Guardia’s $4 billion renovation. Although no official timeline has been announced yet, the new airport design will feature an interconnected terminal layout, centralized parking lots, increased flights, more lanes to and from the airport, as well as state of the art security.
