Portable speakers usually treat the handle as packaging with a hinge. The JBL Pulse 6 makes it part of the product, extending its synchronized 360-degree light show across a rigid illuminated loop that is easier to carry than the previous cylinder.

The acoustic system separates a 30-watt woofer from a 10-watt tweeter and covers a claimed 42 Hz to 20 kHz. JBL’s AI Sound Boost analyzes playback in real time to push output while managing distortion. Bluetooth 6.0 handles everyday listening, while USB-C accepts compatible lossless audio for a wired signal path. Auracast can pair two units in stereo or group the Pulse 6 with other compatible JBL speakers.

The enclosure measures 5.18 by 10.4 by 4.19 inches and weighs 3.27 pounds. IP68 dust and water protection makes the translucent light chamber less precious than it looks, while the 34Wh battery is rated for 12 hours and needs about 4.5 hours to recharge.

Sunset Mode gradually dims both light and sound; a double tap can turn the speaker into a low bedside lamp. It is a more domestic counterpoint to JBL’s recent rugged portable speakers.

JBL prices the Pulse 6 at $329.95 in black. U.S. preorders are open, with shipping expected September 6.
